Yes, an eSIM works in Jersey, and our plan runs on JT, which says its 5G standalone network is now live across the island. Jersey sits outside the UK and outside EU roaming, so home deals vary a lot. A day trip to France or Guernsey also needs a second plan.
JT rebuilt it in 2025. The company switched on its new Ericsson network in May 2025, starting in St Ouen, and now says 5G standalone is live across Jersey with extensive coverage. Our catalogue lists JT with 5G, though how often you see the 5G icon also depends on your phone.
Jersey's other network is Sure, which bought Airtel Vodafone in November 2024 and moved its customers across in September 2025. If an older travel guide tells you to look for Airtel, that network now belongs to Sure.
No, not under EU rules. Jersey is a Crown Dependency, not part of the UK and not part of the EU roaming agreement. So EU rules don't give French and other EU visitors free roaming here, and UK networks set their own terms for the island.
Some UK plans that include France still bill Jersey at their rest of world rate. Search your own network's roaming page for Jersey by name before you land, rather than assuming Europe covers it.
Visitors from further afield, such as the US or Australia, pay whatever their own network charges for Jersey. Coming over from France, switch mobile data to the Jersey line as soon as the ferry docks.
Then you need a second plan, because our Jersey plan is sold for Jersey. France is covered by our France plan, and Guernsey has a plan of its own too. Install the second one before you sail. It won't start counting days until it first connects in France or Guernsey.
DFDS runs the Saint-Malo ferry, and its 2026 timetable has a 9.30am sailing from Jersey with a 6pm return from France, so a same day trip works. Sailings the other way leave Saint-Malo at 7.45am. Switch mobile data to your France line once you arrive, and back again when you're home in Jersey.
Our Global plan also includes Jersey, at $10.64 for 1 GB over 7 days. The Jersey plan gives the same 1 GB and 7 days for $1.29, so Global is really meant for longer trips through several countries.
For a stay of several months, it can be. Coop Mobile launched on Sure's network in February 2026 with monthly plans from £13.50 for 5 GB, including unlimited calls and texts, sold in Coop's largest stores and online. That gives you a Jersey number, which our data only plans do not.
For a week or two, a data plan skips the store visit and the monthly bill. Calls and messages still work over WhatsApp or FaceTime, and your home SIM stays on for texts.
Pick by how much you stream and upload. Unlimited plans give full speed up to 3 GB per day, then up to 1 Mbps for the rest of that day, which still copes with maps and messages. Fixed plans are simpler if that is mostly what you need.
