Frequently Asked Questions

All major credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

We have a 100% money back guarantee. If you are not happy with your eSIM for any reason, ask within 6 months of buying and we refund you in full. Plans that include a phone number are the one exception. See our Refund Policy page for the details.

None. The price you see is exactly what you pay. No setup fees, no monthly commitments, no surprise charges.

Unused data doesn't roll over -- when your plan's validity period ends, any remaining data expires along with it. That's why we offer plans in all sorts of sizes, so you can pick one that actually matches how much you'll use rather than over-buying just in case. Not sure how much you need? Our smaller daily or weekly packs are a great starting point.

Yes, absolutely. Just log into your MegaEsim account, pick a new plan for the same destination, and it activates instantly on your existing eSIM. No new QR code, no reinstalling, no fuss -- just buy it and you're back up and running within minutes.

Most smartphones from 2019 onwards: iPhone XR/XS+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Google Pixel 3+, and many others. Dial *#06# - if your device shows an EID, it supports eSIM.

Yes! iPad Pro (2018+), iPad Air (3rd gen+), iPad mini (5th gen+), and Samsung Galaxy Tab S6+ support eSIM.

Yes! Keep your home SIM active for calls/SMS while MegaEsim handles your data abroad. Both work simultaneously.

This is an important thing to check before buying. Carrier-locked phones only work with SIM cards (including eSIMs) from their locked carrier -- so our eSIM won't work on a locked device. To find out, go to your phone's Settings and look for "Carrier Lock" or "Network Lock" status. Or just call your carrier and ask them directly. Most phones bought outright -- not on a monthly contract -- are already unlocked.

Many modern smartphones support Dual SIM, which means you can have your home SIM and a travel eSIM both active at the same time. Your home SIM handles your calls and texts, while the eSIM takes care of your data abroad -- best of both worlds. Not every phone supports two active eSIMs simultaneously though, so it's worth checking your phone's spec sheet or settings before your trip.

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card built into your device. Unlike a physical SIM card, an eSIM is programmed electronically. You can store multiple eSIMs on your device and switch between them digitally - ideal for travel.

A regular SIM is a physical card you insert into your phone. An eSIM is embedded in your device and activated digitally - no card swapping needed. You can have multiple eSIM profiles on one phone.

No! You can keep your regular SIM active alongside your MegaEsim eSIM. Your existing number stays active while your eSIM handles data abroad.

Yes, most of our plans support hotspot/tethering so you can share your connection with other devices. Check the plan details for hotspot support.

Validity starts on the first time your eSIM connects to a local network. Installing it does not start the countdown.

Your plan doesn't start the moment you buy it — and it doesn't start when you install it either. It starts the second your phone connects to a local network at your destination. So if you land on Monday but only turn on data roaming on Tuesday, your plan starts Tuesday. We recommend installing the eSIM before you leave home (it's easier on Wi-Fi), but only activate it when you actually arrive.

It depends on the plan you choose. Single-country eSIMs only work in that specific country. But we also sell regional plans — like Europe, Asia Pacific, or Global — that cover multiple countries in a single plan. No need to buy a new eSIM every time you cross a border. Just check the plan details to see which countries are included.

When your ship is close to the coast, your eSIM will likely pick up signal from land-based networks nearby. Out in open water, though, coverage drops off — our eSIMs connect to mobile towers on land, not satellites. A good tip: download your offline maps, Spotify playlists, and any documents before you set sail.

Pretty much instantly. As soon as your payment goes through, a QR code lands in your email inbox — usually within a minute or two. No shipping, no waiting around. You can install it on your phone whenever you're ready, even days before your trip.

After purchase, you will receive a QR code by email. On your phone, go to Settings -> Cellular -> Add eSIM -> Scan QR Code. It takes less than 2 minutes.

You can install the eSIM before your trip - but activate it (connect to a network) only when you arrive at your destination. Validity begins on first use.

Most eSIMs can only be installed once. If you delete it, contact our support team and we will re-issue a new QR code at no extra charge.

Don't stress. Log back into your MegaEsim account and you'll find your QR code ready to re-download. Just scan it again to reinstall the eSIM on your phone. One thing to keep in mind: most eSIMs can only be scanned and installed once per QR code. If yours no longer works after deleting, email us at support@megaesim.com and we'll sort you out with a fresh one.

First, try a few quick fixes: scan in good lighting, hold your phone still, and give it a few seconds. Make sure the eSIM feature is actually enabled in your phone's settings. Also worth checking -- is your phone carrier-locked? Some locked phones block eSIMs from other providers. If none of that helps, email us at support@megaesim.com with your order number and we'll get it resolved fast.

eSIMs are linked to the device they were installed on, so you can't just pop them out like a physical SIM card. Here's what to do: delete the eSIM from your old phone first, then log into your MegaEsim account, grab your QR code, and scan it on the new device. Good news -- any data you had remaining carries over, so your plan continues from exactly where it left off.

No problem at all. Log into your MegaEsim account on our website and all your purchased eSIMs are listed there -- QR codes included, ready to re-download anytime. If you're locked out of your account too, just reach out to our support team and we'll get you back on track quickly.

Most of our plans are data-only — so they don't include a regular phone number for calls and SMS. But honestly, you don't really need one. Apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, and Google Meet all work perfectly over your eSIM data. Just keep your home SIM active in your phone alongside the eSIM, and use that for any calls or texts that come through your normal number.

Yes, completely. WhatsApp just needs an internet connection — and that's exactly what your eSIM gives you. Your phone number, all your chats, photos, voice messages, group conversations — everything stays exactly the same. You'll message and call your contacts just like you would at home.

Your connection doesn't just cut off mid-page — instead it slows down to a basic browsing speed (around 128 Kbps). You can still check messages and use maps at low speed, but don't expect to stream videos or download large files. If you need more data, just log into your MegaEsim account, buy an additional plan, and it kicks in right away — no reinstalling needed.

The easiest way is to log into your MegaEsim account on our website -- it shows all your active plans and remaining data in one place. You can also check directly on your phone under Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular Data on iPhone), where your device tracks usage per SIM. Some Android phones even show it in the notification bar.

Our eSIMs are data-only, which means they don't come with a phone number for receiving standard SMS texts. Your normal texts will still arrive on your home SIM as usual -- just make sure your home SIM is still active. Messages through WhatsApp, iMessage over data, or any internet-based chat app work perfectly fine through your eSIM.

Yes, and you can do it anytime. You don't have to wait until your data runs out. Log in to your MegaEsim account on our website or in the MegaEsim app, open My eSIMs, choose your eSIM and select Top Up. Pick the data plan you want and pay, and the extra data is added to the same eSIM, so there is nothing new to install.

The Top Up option shows once your eSIM is installed and active. A few plans, such as some daily unlimited plans, can't be topped up. If you don't see the option, just buy a new eSIM for your destination.
