eSIM for Guam

Guam is a United States territory, so people assume their US plan covers it the way it covers Puerto Rico. It does not. On all three major US carriers Guam sits outside the domestic coverage area and inside the international roaming system. We checked each carrier's own terms on 13 September 2026.

The clearest proof is Puerto Rico. It appears in none of the three international destination lists, because it genuinely is domestic. Guam appears in all three. That is the difference.

So the honest answer splits three ways. If you are on a qualifying T-Mobile postpaid plan, you probably do not need to buy anything, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a plan you will not use. If you are on AT&T or Verizon, you are paying a day rate, and a week of Verizon TravelPass costs more than ten times our 1 GB plan at $5.95. If you are on a US prepaid brand, check carefully: Cricket, for example, offers roaming only in Mexico and Canada, so Guam is not available at all.

Anyone travelling from outside the United States is roaming internationally in Guam regardless, so the comparison is simply your home carrier's roaming rate against the prices below.

Eleven plans, all running on the same Docomo Pacific profile. Prices are in US dollars and include everything. There are no activation fees and nothing added at checkout.

Per gigabyte the larger plans are far better value. The 20 GB plan works out at roughly a third of the cost per gigabyte of the 1 GB plan, so when you are stuck between two sizes the larger one is usually the cheaper mistake.

What every one of these plans is, in plain terms: Docomo Pacific, 4G LTE, data only. No Guam phone number, no SMS, no voice calling. Hotspot and tethering are allowed. There is no top up, so if you run out you buy a new plan. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in Guam, not when you buy it.

Guam trips fall into a few recognisable shapes. Match yours rather than guessing at a number.

• Three or four days of maps, messaging and the occasional lookup: 1 GB for 7 days at $5.95.
• A week of normal phone use including some social media and music: 3 GB for 15 days at $9.31.
• Two weeks, or one phone sharing a hotspot with a partner: 5 GB for 30 days at $15.51.
• A family trip, or working from the hotel with video calls: 10 GB at $31.01 or 20 GB at $58.16.
• A single day in transit through Guam: unlimited for 1 day at $6.22.

One honest steer. If you are weighing a multi day unlimited plan, compare it against the 10 GB or 20 GB plan first. For almost every traveller the fixed plans deliver more full speed data for less money, because unlimited on a travel eSIM does not mean what most people assume.

Unlimited here means unlimited at a reduced speed, not unlimited at full speed. You get full speed for the first 1 GB each day. After that the connection drops to around 5 Mbps for the remainder of that day, and the full speed allowance resets every 24 hours.

5 Mbps is a real connection, not a punishment. It handles maps, messaging, email, music streaming, social feeds and standard definition video without much complaint. What it does not handle well is large downloads, sharp video calls, or pushing a day of photos and video to the cloud in a hurry.

If you expect to move more than about 1 GB of full speed data on any given day, a fixed plan serves you better. Every gigabyte on the 10 GB and 20 GB plans runs at full speed with no daily ceiling.

Our 1 GB daily allowance is the strictest of any brand in the table below, and we would rather you read that here than discover it on day two of your holiday. If a generous daily allowance matters more to you than price, one of the others is the better buy.

Our unlimited plans run from one day to thirty, so there is one for a layover and one for a month. Be aware that data in Guam is expensive for every provider, and that our fixed plans give you more full speed data per dollar. If you want the convenience of never watching a data counter, the unlimited plans do that. If you want the most data for the least money, the 10 GB and 20 GB plans are the better buy. Both are on the table above and the choice is yours.

Guam has three mobile networks and every travel eSIM roams on one of them. Which one you get is decided entirely by the brand you buy from, and it is the biggest difference between two plans that look identical on price. Nobody publishes this in one place, so here it is.

Checked 13 September 2026. Every entry comes from the brand's own plan page or terms of service, not from a review site or an affiliate roundup. Networks and fair use limits change without notice, so confirm on the brand's own page before you buy.

Two things worth noticing. Airalo's 3 GB daily threshold is not printed on its Guam plan page at all, it lives in a separate unlimited data fair use policy. And Saily does not publish which Guam network it uses anywhere we could find. Neither is a scandal, but you should know what you are and are not being told.

Three operators run the mobile networks on the island, and all three also sell home internet and local prepaid SIM cards.

• GTA, also known as GTA Teleguam, the long established local operator.
• Docomo Pacific, a subsidiary of the Japanese carrier NTT Docomo, and the network our eSIM roams on.
• IT&E, which also runs networks in the Northern Mariana Islands.

All three run LTE across the populated parts of the island and all three have deployed 5G for their own subscribers. That last point matters, because a roaming travel profile does not automatically inherit 5G just because the host network has it. Our Guam profile is provisioned as 4G LTE, and we say so rather than putting a 5G badge on the page.

If you need an actual Guam phone number, for a local business contact or a delivery, no travel eSIM will give you one. You need a local prepaid SIM from one of these three, bought in person.

Guam is about 30 miles long and the population is concentrated in the centre and north, which is where the networks are strongest.

• Tumon and Tamuning, the hotel and beach strip where most visitors stay: well covered.
• Hagatna, Dededo, Yigo and Mangilao, the main population centres: well covered.
• The southern villages towards Umatac, Merizo and Inarajan: coverage thins out, and the terrain creates gaps.
• Ritidian Point and the far northern tip: sparse, and parts sit inside a wildlife refuge with no development.
• Boats, dive sites and the water around the island: do not count on a signal offshore.

We will not quote coverage percentages or speed figures for Guam, because we have not measured them and neither has any other eSIM site publishing those numbers. What we can tell you is exactly which network you are on, which is the part that actually determines your experience.

Around Andersen Air Force Base and Naval Base Guam, commercial networks cover the surrounding areas and the eSIM behaves normally there. Base access itself and any restrictions applied inside are a separate matter that an eSIM does not change.

Install it at home on wifi before you fly. The QR code arrives by email within minutes of ordering. Installing early costs you nothing, because the clock does not start until the eSIM first connects to a network in Guam.

On iPhone: open Settings, tap Cellular, tap Add eSIM, choose Use QR Code and scan the code from the email. Label the line Guam so you can tell it apart. Leave your home line as the default for calls and messages, then select the Guam line for mobile data and turn Data Roaming on for that line.

On Android, including Pixel and Samsung: open Settings, go to Network and internet, tap SIMs, then Add eSIM or Download a SIM instead, and scan the code. Once it installs, select it for mobile data and enable data roaming for that SIM.

Data roaming has to be on. This is a roaming profile on Docomo Pacific, so with roaming switched off it will never connect. It is the single most common reason a perfectly good eSIM appears dead.

When you land at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, switch the Guam line on for data and give it a few minutes to find the network. If nothing happens: restart the phone, toggle airplane mode on and off, confirm the Guam line is the one selected for mobile data, and confirm data roaming is still enabled for that line.

Four ways to get online in Guam. The right one depends almost entirely on who your home carrier is.

Run the arithmetic before you travel. A week of Verizon TravelPass at $12 a day comes to $84. Our 1 GB plan covers the same week at $5.95, and even the 20 GB plan at $58.16 costs less than half the TravelPass week. On T-Mobile the maths goes the other way and doing nothing is usually right.

Not ours. Our Guam plans cover Guam and nothing else, confirmed against the coverage data where every Guam plan lists exactly one territory.

Saipan, Tinian and Rota belong to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, a separate US territory from Guam. Here is the subtlety that catches people out: two of the Guam operators, Docomo Pacific and IT&E, also run networks in the CNMI. So the networks are not entirely separate, but that does not mean your plan roams there. Coverage is set by the plan you bought, not by who owns the towers.

So read the coverage list rather than the plan title, and rather than assuming either way. If your trip takes in both, you need a plan that names the Northern Mariana Islands explicitly, or a second plan. A plan called Pacific or Micronesia does not necessarily include either.

All three mobile operators sell home internet on Guam, with fibre across the more built up areas and slower connections further out. For a visitor this mostly matters through your hotel.

Hotels along the Tumon strip generally include wifi, usually fine for browsing and messaging and unreliable for video calls at busy times. Cafes and malls in Tumon and Hagatna have wifi. Public wifi across the rest of the island is patchy enough that you should not plan around it.

If you are staying somewhere remote and need a dependable connection, satellite internet is worth looking at. Check the provider's own availability map for the specific address before you rely on it, because availability varies by location and changes as capacity is added.

• Guam is not domestic on your US plan. It is a US territory, but AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile all classify it as international roaming. Puerto Rico is the one that genuinely is domestic.
• The airport is not called Guam International. Its name is Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport and the code is GUM.
• You are not limited to one eSIM. iPhone 13 and later can store several eSIM profiles and keep two active at the same time, so your home line and your Guam line run together.
• Unlimited almost never means unlimited. Nearly every travel eSIM applies a daily full speed allowance and then slows you down, ours included.
• Not every Guam eSIM is 5G. Plenty are marketed as 5G while the roaming profile you receive is LTE only. Ours is 4G LTE and we say so.
