Great value

Data plans start at $1.58 across all 3 countries.

Multi network coverage

Each country connects to a named local network rather than a single roaming partner.

Top up available

Buy more data at any time without waiting for the current plan to end.

Validity start

The validity period starts once the eSIM connects to a supported network.

Multiple eSIM purchase

Buy several eSIMs in one order for family and friends. Each gets its own QR code.

Device compatibility

Works with any carrier unlocked phone that supports eSIM, most models from 2019 onward.

Everyday use

Your number stays yours, and every app keeps working

Because your home SIM stays in the phone, WhatsApp still runs on your own number, and so do iMessage and the SMS codes your bank sends. Everything else simply uses the eSIM's data, exactly as it does on Wi-Fi at home.

  • Google Maps
  • Uber
  • Instagram
  • Spotify

Getting connected

From checkout to signal in three steps

Buying and installing takes about five minutes. The only waiting happens after you land.

Buy before you fly Choose your plan and the QR code arrives by email within a minute or two. It also sits in your account as a backup.
Install while you have Wi-Fi Scan the code from your phone settings. Do this at home the night before rather than in an arrivals hall with no signal.
Land, then switch on data roaming Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line when you arrive. Your plan activates on a local network and the clock starts then, not before.

eSIM for the USA, Canada and Mexico: Three Countries, 16 Plans, and When Not to Buy One

You are looking at a plan that covers three countries, the USA, Canada and Mexico. That is the whole list, and it is shorter than most people expect from the words North America. This page covers which trips it suits, which trips it does not, what it works out to per gigabyte, and why nothing here is unlimited.

01 Which Countries Does the North America eSIM Cover?

Three countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico. Nothing else is included. If your route touches Guatemala, Belize, Cuba, Jamaica or any Caribbean island, the plan stops working the moment you cross that border, and no warning appears first.

Geography puts Central America, the Caribbean and Greenland inside North America. Mobile operators draw the line somewhere else. This plan uses the operator definition, which is the three big mainland markets and nothing south of Mexico. Panama, Costa Rica and Cuba are not on it. Our Latin America and Caribbean regional pages each list their own country count, so check yours there rather than assuming.

The reverse question is the one worth asking. Do not ask whether North America is covered. Ask whether Belize is. Write your itinerary out country by country, then match each line against the three. US territories are worth a message to support before you buy, because a plan sold for the United States does not automatically reach Puerto Rico or Guam.

02 Should You Buy This for a One Country Trip?

No. If you fly to New York and home again, the USA eSIM is the cheaper buy. Our single country plans for the USA, Canada and Mexico all price lower per gigabyte than the regional plan, so the honest answer is two clicks away on their own pages.

The regional plan earns its price when your route crosses at least one of the two land borders. A Pacific coast drive from Vancouver down to Tijuana. A month of work in Toronto with a week in Chicago. A winter that starts in Calgary and ends in Baja. Those are the trips it was built for.

Buying three separate country plans instead looks clever until you count the leftovers. Each one is its own bucket with its own QR code, and the gigabytes you did not use in Canada cannot be spent in Mexico. Stranded data across three buckets usually costs more than the premium on one regional plan.

03 What Does This Plan Cost per Gigabyte?

The best rate on this region is $1.79 per gigabyte, on plans of 20GB or less. The $1.58 you see at the top is the entry ticket for a very small day plan. It is not the rate you will pay across two weeks of travel.

Every eSIM site shows a from price, and it is almost always the smallest, shortest plan on the shelf. It tells you nothing about the plan you will actually buy. Divide price by gigabytes and compare that number instead. Across the 16 plans on this region the pattern is consistent: short day plans cost the most per gigabyte, and the rate falls as the bucket grows.

Work out roughly what you use at home, then cut it. Maps, messaging and boarding passes are light. Video is not. Most travellers overbuy on the first order, and a smaller plan topped up later costs less than a big bucket that expires half full.

04 Is There an Unlimited North America eSIM?

No. There is no unlimited plan on this region, at any price or on any validity window. All 16 plans here are fixed data buckets. When the bucket empties the data stops, and there is no unlimited tier sitting above it to fall back on.

That is worth saying plainly, because it rules some people out. If you tether a laptop all day, run video calls from the road or upload footage every night, a travel eSIM is the wrong shape of product for you. A local US postpaid line, or a travel add on from your own carrier, will serve you better.

It also changes how you read the word unlimited elsewhere in this market. Most travel plans sold as unlimited carry a daily allowance and slow down sharply once you pass it. Read the fair use line before you compare one against a fixed bucket, because the two are not the same product.

05 Which Networks Will Your Phone Actually Use?

The plan card names a local network in each country: Rogers in Canada, Telcel and AT&T in Mexico, Verizon and AT&T in the United States. You do not pick between them. Your phone selects whichever covered network is strongest where you happen to be standing.

Two shutdowns matter more than most travellers realise. The big US carriers switched off 3G in 2022, and Rogers began retiring its own 3G network in August 2025. There is no slow fallback left anywhere on this route. A handset missing the right 4G or 5G bands shows no service rather than a weak signal, so check your model before you rely on it.

Roaming traffic also sits behind a network's own customers when a cell is busy. In a stadium, an arrivals hall or a border town at rush hour you may see full bars and still wait for a page to load. That is ordinary congestion rather than a fault, and it usually clears within minutes.

06 Do You Need to Register This eSIM in Mexico?

No. Mexico began requiring new local mobile lines to be linked to an identified user in January 2026, but that rule covers lines sold by Mexican operators. A foreign travel eSIM enters the country as roaming, so there is no passport registration step for you.

That matters if your backup plan was a Telcel SIM from the airport. Bring your passport and allow time at the counter. Neither the United States nor Canada asks for anything similar, so a Mexico eSIM bought before you fly is the shortest path through all three countries.

Land borders hand over on their own, though your phone can cling to the old network for a few minutes after you cross. A short flight mode toggle settles it. Be realistic about the far edges too. Deep rural Mexico and remote northern Canada thin out for every roaming product, and no eSIM beats a local line in the backcountry.

07 Who Should Not Buy This Plan

Do not buy this plan if you are visiting one country. The USA, Canada and Mexico country plans are cheaper per gigabyte, and buying the regional one anyway means paying more for coverage you will never touch. Do not buy it if your route runs south of Mexico or out into the Caribbean, because those countries are not on it and nothing on this page will make them appear. Do not buy it if you need unlimited data, because no unlimited plan exists on this region and no amount of topping up changes that. And if you live in the United States, read your own carrier plan first. Several US carriers already include a Canada and Mexico data allowance, which can make this purchase pointless for a short hop north or south.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the North America eSIM.

No. The plan covers three countries only: the USA, Canada and Mexico. Caribbean islands are a separate region with their own country list, so check the Caribbean page before you book anything that includes one.

No. Nothing south of the Mexican border is included. Those countries sit under our Latin America region instead. If your trip runs from Mexico into Central America overland, you need a second plan for the second half.

For a USA only trip, yes. Our single country plans price lower per gigabyte than the North America regional plan. The regional one only makes sense once your route includes two or three of the countries.

It simply stops. There is no overage bill and no unlimited tier behind it, because no unlimited plan exists on this region. You either top up the same eSIM or install a fresh plan, both from your phone.
